Ever wonder what it would be like if all the spirits of the sacrificial turkeys gathered their ectoplasmic energy and rose up, ready to devour the would-be devourers? I think America wouldn't stand a chance. How many turkeys are slaughtered *just* for thanksgiving? Genocide of Turkey Kind. Were I a God of Turkeys, I would incite them to take it back, take it all back you stupid flightless birds! But, since I am not, i will simply defend myself like all the rest: with a broom and a carving knife. Here's the music I played to keep them at bay.

The Industrial Zone Apologizes
Holy crap, that didn't publish and I'm just now noticing it! Ok, so, I had the list all typed in and I fucking know I clicked "publish" but apparently that's not good enough? or something?
So, I'm sorry, everyone. Computer SNAFU. I will get one up next week as usual. And hey, thanks for the vocal protests over not getting a set list. ...kinda cool....
you can still find the show here, as usual
The Industrial Zone Archive File
In Other News. Club? last night only suffered from a lack of people. To all of you who read this, I have something very simple to express. i have heard from people who "used to come" but have slowed or stopped complaining that no one goes there anymore. It is sooo freaking simple: Come Back! Bring some of the people that you know that would like to come, and every time you do that, others that maybe just happened to be there that night would see that people do still come and it would snowball into this great thing where people pack the joint. A club is only as good as it's patrons. I and my dj compatriots can spin our hearts out, but it's for you, so show up, cuz it don't matter what we do if no one's there to hear it.
alright, i'm done.

SKINNY PUPPY live in chicago monday Nov 9, 2009
Holy fucking shit!
"this band never ceases to amaze me" as Dave Stange said upon leaving the venue. he is absolutely right.
Opener: love in vein
Closer: far too frail
somewhere in the middle: pro-test, ugli, pedafly, addiction (a remix no less!) ahh, yeah I was inebriated thoroughly so my recognition of the set list is patchy. Fucking Assimilate! Finally! I know that made Dave very happy! (and I as well, of course)
Encore was Warlock and Far too Frail. Holy destruction! Ogre was in a kind of geriatric KKK looking outfit, complete with a fucking walker! later, the KKK hate was replaced with a creepy ghost/ghoul looking mask and then that was subsequently torn off to reveal something grotesque and zombie-ish. Blood was sprayed. All over the inside of a plexi compartment thing. other cool visuals including a forced perspective set of video screens layered one upon the other which is very hard to describe right now. cEvin handled programming, mark Walk did drums, from what I can tell. Ahhh, so perfect.
Never a bad show from these established, potent, ever-increasing gods of industrial. none can surpass them.

Review of Rot, the new album from [;SITD:]
Remember waaay back when, when [:SITD:] released Snuff Machinery, it got remixed a bunch of times, and everybody loved'em? What happened then? Not Much. They put out another album called "Coded Message" which didn't seem to get heard, and then...and THEN..."Bestie:Mensch" Man, that album did not impress me much at all. I got the feeling it was a very personal album, but since I don't understand enough German to get all that they're saying, it wasn't very personal for me. The music was alright enough, but it just didn't grab me.
So, here we are with a new one, "Rot" which is German for "red" (pronounced "rote") and I can easily say it's better than "Stronghold", much better. It transfixed me, grabbed me, touched me (somewhat inappropriately) and I like it. My fav tracks are "Catharsis (Heal me, Control Me)", "Rot V1.0", "Pride", and "Redemption." Expect to hear "Catharsis" in the club and at least two of the others on this weeks show.
Not that the others aren't any good, in fact they have really gripped me. "MK Ultra" seems to be about getting clean, kicking drugs, etc., which, for one who's done that, is very relatable. "Destination" is slower with less distorted vocals, kinda touching really. All the songs have a great feel, seem to be put together with the finest craftsmanship, and i feel safe saying the band has really hit a stride with this disc.
Don't get me wrong, if an album sucks, i'll review that too, but I like this one and it's been on play for a few days now here in my lair. "Zodiac" is about serial killers and very dark and creepy; most of the songs are dark and creepy industrial, instead of brash and rebellious industrial. I like both kinds, but it seems rebellious has been more the trend than creepy, and I'm happy to hear some "go bump in the night" kinda sounds in the genre again.
So, I say, go get it! it's available at metropolis records. That's all I got for now. Tune in to 91.7 WMSE or online at www.wmse.org this thursday (tomorrow!) for The Industrial Zone, with yer host, ME!

This weekend wore me the fuck out! But I gots new music!
So, I can feature some brand new shit this thursday! Rot by [:SITD:], Random is Resistance by Rotersand, and Compass by Assemblage 23! Hopefully some new Cesium 37, Mesh, and Suicide Commando as well, but that hasn't come in yet, so we'll just have to wait and see, won't we, you little friggers!
On a Halloween note, Club? held it's annual costume contest this past Saturday and yours truly was there wit da beats, along with DJ Censored, DJ Burn, Brad Richter, and Z. And guess who showed up later on, despite being sick? DJ Garz! what a trooper. So here's my playlist from that night.
Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
The Gun Song - Ayria
Chrrome ([:SITD:] mix) - VNV Nation
The Siren - Aesthetic Perfection
Sin - Nine Inch Nails
Assiimilate - Skinny Puppy
Headhunter (leather Strip mix) - Front 242
Bind, Torture, and Kill - Suicide Commando
Keep in mind we had 5 DJ's on, so sets were a bit short, still fuckin' ruled!
So, Halloween is over, but Fall isn't, and that makes me happy. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and gave in to some of their darker inclinations.
Radio show this thursday at midnight, DJ'ing at Club? on Saturday with Burn. Tune in, Turn Out!
